Craigow was one of the first vineyards established in southern Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. Craigow’s Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay and Gerwürztraminer premium varietal wines are grown and crafted to reflect the characteristic terroir of the Coal River Valley, where the growing conditions are similar to the cool-climate wine regions of northern France. Originally a farming estate developed by Dr James Murdoch in the early 1820’s, its early crops even included the growing of opium poppies (for medical use only)!
