It all began in 1987 when Steve met Monique after Steve returned from France from interning in Champagne and decided that he really wanted to make sparkling wine in the coolest region of Australia. They began to map a future but their only real option was to move to Tasmania. There were already grapes planted in Tasmania and they could see the potential for greatness. In 1990 they found the perfect property, took a risk and put all their cash on the line plus worked hard. Super happy and nearly 30 years later they have weathered the good and the bad and have achieved so much with many helping hands. With Biodynamic certification achieved in 2013, Stefano Lubiana Wines provide protection for their environment, employees and customers from chemicals, and as a bonus it makes a better wine.
